When you use a mobile number for UPI fund transfer, both the receiver and sender should use the same UPI application but now using the UPI number, you can transfer and receive money from any UPI application, no need to use the same UPI mobile application.
What is UPI Number in PhonePe?
If you are using PhonePe then you can set your mobile number as a UPI number and receive money from any UPI application like Google Pay, Paytm, Amazon Pay, etc by giving your mobile number, no need to share your UPI ID or account details.
A UPI number is a unique number that can be used as a payment address to receive UPI payments on any payment app. The mobile number registered with your PhonePe account will be your 10-digit YOU number and, will be linked to your UPI ID. When you receive money from any UPI application, it will be credited to your PhonePe-linked primary bank account.
How To Set up UPI Number in PhonePe?
Step 1: Open your PhonePe Application and tap on the profile icon located at the top and open the profile section.
Step 2: Now in the profile section, tap on the “UPI Settings”
Step 3: In the UPI Settings, tap on the “UPI Number” option and here you can see the “Link to PhonePe” option to set your mobile number as a UPI number. Click on this option.
Step 4: Now tap on the confirm button.
Done! your mobile number is now successfully set as a UPI number on PhonePe and now you will be able to receive money from any UPI application by sharing just your UPI number. The money will be credited to your PhonePe primary bank account.
So this way you can use your mobile number as a payment address for UPI payments and receive money by sharing your UPI number from any UPI application (google pay, amazon pay, Paytm, etc).
