How To Activate/Deactivate SBI Account UPI Transfer

For security reasons, do you want to temporarily stop UPI payments and transfers for your SBI account? If yes, you can do this online through the SBI mobile banking application YONO Lite. By doing so, you will instantly block your SBI account for UPI payments, and you will not be able to initiate any UPI payments or fund transfers through any UPI application.

SBI’s Block/Unblock UPI money transfer feature allows you to protect your SBI account from unauthorized UPI transactions. If you suspect any suspicious activity in your account or if your SBI account security is compromised, you can easily block UPI transfers for your account.

Here we will explain step by step how to disable UPI transfers and payments for your SBI account. You can always re-enable the UPI service for your account later on. Read also: How to add a Beneficiary account on the YONO SBI App

Activate/Deactivate UPI Service for SBI Account from YONO Lite

Step 1: Login to your SBI YONO Lite mobile banking application. If not activated, then install the application and activate using your net banking user ID and password. Once you login, tap and open the “UPI Transfer” section.

Step 2: Now select the “Enable/Disable UPI” option where you can stop/start UPI services for your SBI account.

Step 3: Now select your account number and turn OFF the Enable UPI account button as you can see in the below screenshot. Disable the UPI button and submit.

Step 4: Now confirm your request and submit.

Step 5: Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number to verify your request.

Step 6: You are Done! UPI payments and transfers has been stopped for your SBI account now. You can’t use UPI services now from any UPI application.

Enable UPI Service for your SBI Account Again

You can re-activate UPI payments and transfer service for your SBI account anytime, just select your account number and turn ON the UPI option and submit as you can see in the screenshot below.

Remember to check out the new feature launched by SBI on YONO Lite mobile banking. This facility will soon be available on the YONO SBI application too. You can use the UPI block/unblock feature to protect your SBI account from unauthorized UPI transactions.
